Hey y'all,

Apologies for the repetition, to anyone who is on more than one
odonate e-mail listserv...

This past Wednesday, May 6, I received a phone call from Texas ode-
hunter Martin Reid. He had re-found the two species at Bentsen-RGV
State Park which had been recorded there as first US records last
year, Bow-tailed Glider (Tauriphila argo) and Mexican Scarlet-tail
(Planiplax sanguiniventris)! The Planiplax was photographed again on
Friday by Tom Pendleton, and again on Monday morning by Jan and David
Dauphin. Tom and I saw the Planiplax that afternoon but could not re-
find the Tauriphila.

Martin has posted his photos on-line (note that, for each species, the
most recent photos are lowest down on the page) at

http://www.martinreid.com/Odonata%20website/odonate170.html

and

With this in mind, one last reminder about Dragonfly Days! The fest is
less than two weeks away, starting on Friday May 22. Martin is giving
a talk and co-leading field trips, as am I, Greg Lasley, and Ro Wauer,
while this year's keynote speaker is John Abbott, and of course Bob
Behrstock will be kicking things off as usual. Probably safe to say
that Bentsen will be on the field trip itinerary with Planiplax and
Tauriphila among the target species (yesterday Tom and I also saw
Caribbean Yellowface, Amelia's Threadtail, Spot-tailed Dasher, and
Carmine Skimmer, all of which pass for everyday occurrences at Bentsen
during the warmer months).

Hope to see some of you there!
