[Odonata-l] wet specimens

Hello,

I recently collected several sandwich boxes full of dragonfly and
damselfly specimens.
I placed them all in the ice chest. One box fell into the melted ice at
the bottom of the box, and quite a bit of water seeped in.
I was afraid those specimens would be ruined. I drained the water and
reclosed the box. That was 2 days ago. I'm surprised to find that those
specimens are still alive, which is great as I want live scans, while
those in the boxes that stayed dry have mostly died, even though I had
opened them to let in fresh air.

Has anyone else noticed this? Would purposely dampening glassine
envelopes with specimens in them be a way to keep specimens alive longer?

Thanks for any advice!!
Kathy Biggs
