The subgenital plate of Arigomphus lentulus is very different from othen
gomphids with which I am familiar. It curves downward much like many
Somatochlora. I have seen this species only a few times and I have never
seen oviposition. The morphology of the plate suggests it might lay eggs by
tapping them into mud, similar to the oviposition of several Somatochlora
with similar plates. Has anyone witnessed this species laying eggs??
