[Odonata-l] Location and Predictability of South Carolina (USA) Odonates in Managed Landscapes

Hello Everyone:

I have a very broad question about temporal/spatial predictability of
odonates in managed landscapes (cut over timber, agricultural, fallow
fields, rice fields, etc) in the southeastern coastal plain (South Carolina
and Georgia). For my M.S. I will be assessing resource availability for
swallow-tailed kites, (Elanoides forficatus)on managed landscapes. I have
reports of the birds feeding in large groups (kettles) on swarms of
odonates and coleoptera species... (2007 data). My question is: Can I use
foraging location data from 2007 to sample invertebrates (specifically
odonates) in 2008? Are these swarms predictable year after year at the
same time/location given the same general conditions of temp/rain?
Here is another zinger : Any idea how mosquito abatement impacts odonates?
Many thanks in advance....I know my question is broad but any help,
resources will be appreciated.
