Hi all,

I tried to send out a message about the seasons first adult dragonfly
on Monday, but it seems to have gotten lost in space, so I'll try
again!

Monday (March 26) along a bike trail through the Black Hawk Game
Management Area south of Lake View, IA, I saw my first adult dragonfly
of the
season - Sympetrum corruptum. Previous early date for this species in
Iowa was April 11. Two days of warm temperatures 70'S & 80's) and
southwest winds must be blowing the migrants in. Was hoping to see
Anax junius (early date of April 4), but not yet. Since Monday the
weather here has turned cool and rainy, so probably won't see anything
else for a while.
