The UAE bird recorder uses Wildlife Recorder which would be very good for
odonata. Samples of the output can be seen at:

http://www.tommypedersen.com/UAE.htm and go to monthly reports,

It looks to be excellent for records, especially with the PDA software.

The Emirates Natural History Group, Al Ain Chapter, looked at several
programs including Wildlife Recorder mainly for insect and plant records and
eventually settled on MANTIS (MANager of Taxonomic Information and
Specimens), developed for Harvard's E-Type Initiative by Pytor Naskrecki as
the one that suited us best for capability and price.

We are in a poorly recorded area so are getting a lot of species that aren't
in a database yet. I'm still tempted to get Wildlife Recorder for my own
use for odonata. I do a reasonable job of getting a photgraphic record of
perchers, but it would be good to be better about making records of visual
observations too.
