Greetings,
Oregon Public Broadcasting has made available a 20-minute Oregon Field Guide
segment on dragonflies which first aired in 1999 and stars Steve Valley. I
make a small cameo appearance. The video file is rather large at 154 MB (not
for dial-up users) and you need to download and install a player, but it is
apparently DVD quality. It is also free.
You can download the video at
http://www.opb.org/programs/ofg/videos/download/100. Look for "Dragonfly
Study" in the Sample Videos and click the download link. Segments were shot
on the scenic John Day River and at the Todd Lake Tanypteryx site near Mount
Bachelor. Lots of shots of Tanypteryx hageni, Gomphus lynnae, Macromia
magnifica, and a number of other species.
Watch Steve catch a zooming Macromia and say to the camera, "That's how it's
done." It's a classic.
Enjoy,
Jim Johnson
