Three things come to mind about this find:
1) Early workers (e.g., Tim Vogt, Tim Cashett) often mentioned of the
association of this species' distribution with the Niagara Escarpment
(there are a few disjuncts, though). Hence, populations were
subsequently found in Wisconsin (Door Peninsula), southern UP of
Michigan (many places), northern LP of Michigan (not far from Alpena).
There's a map at http://www.uwgb.edu/DutchS/geolwisc/niagesc.htm that
illustrates its location. That's were one should be looking, along with
suitable nymphal (not larval!) habitat. Simcoe County pretty much is in
agreement with the geological association. (Although Nick Donnelly and
others may know of something otherwise).
2) Since this species is apparently widespread, though not abundant,
perhaps research should be done to see if the species should be
considered threatened, and not endangered, at least in the USA? In
Illinois, it should be considered endangered, due to the relationship
with urban/suburban/mining landuse.
3) Will the Canadian authorities now provide habitat protect for this
species, given its conservation status in the USA?
