[Odonata-l] Tattered wings

Kathy's response reminds me that I too have tried experiments with clipping  
off damaged bits of wing. I have also tried re-wetting and pressing crumpled  
wings in a book also with some success as the individual (Gomphus 
vulgatissimus  flew off) and considering it was it's first flight anyway didn't look too  
bad!
This trend of thought is interesting and I have often wondered how long a  
dragonfly could carry on accepting warmth and food, if both wings lasted  longer.
