Odonatological literature – Database

For more than 15 years I have maintained an odonatological library
and a database with at present more than 23,300 publications. More
then 6000 key words help to open the papers for hidden information.
App. 6000 odonatological abstracts and hundreds of pdf files are also
available, organized for my database.

To check how it works (but without the links to the pdfs) please
visit the following homepage: www.lidos.de, or check a sample
odonatological database with app. 1000 citations at www.ifaust.de/
libelle. Lidos is the leading software in Germany to organize
libraries, and it is an absolutely perfect and professional software.
I never had any problems with it.

Persons interested in my odonatological database can buy it for 495
US $ (including shipping). To work with it, you need Lidos 6.0 (for
details of this software see the Lidos homepage mentioned above). If
you intend to buy this program, you should contact me. It will be
possible to get a discount up to 25% depending on the number of
persons who want to buy it. Lidos is available for app. 750 Euro
(app. 900 US $); if you are working or studying at a university it is
possible to get a discount up to 40%. Together with my database, this
is a lot of money. But consider how many hundreds of hours you would
have to spend to make or to perfect your own database. And if you own
my database, you can simply amend it according your own ideas. And
you can produce many additional databases on birds, orchids, whatever
you want.

If you should prefer, I can mail or ship you regularly a writable
update (this means an importable file with new odonatological
publications, pdfs etc.) of the database (see next paragraph).

Beside having the full version of Lidos, there are two additional
possibilities to get access to my odonatological database:

(1) Lidos has written a program comparable to Adobe Acrobat Reader.
This program - FUL Reader - is free, you can download it from the
Lidos homepage, and it enables you to read any Lidos database. But,
you only can read data and export text files in different formats
including pdfs. It is not possible to maintain it by adding your own
data sets. I sell my database in this read-only form for 100 Euro
plus 16 Euro taxes (app. 140 US $) and shipping costs. It will be
possible to get updates, each 15 Euro plus taxes (app. 21 US $) and
shipping or mailing it at any interval you want.

I am working nearly every day with it, writing abstracts, making new
entries, key wording, correcting errors, etc.

(2) There is also the possiblity to get a password-protected access
to the Lidos server where my database could be positioned. But I only
will do so if there are at least 25 persons interested. This service
would be available for an annual amount of 115 Euro (app. 160-170 US
$) including 4 annual updates of the server.

If you should have interest in my odonatological database in any form
please contact me:

There is one disadvantage of Lidos for many: The web site is written
in German. But German is not difficult to understand, and I will be
happy to help if necessary. To check the database (www.ifaust.de/
libelle) the following information will appear:

Wählen Sie den Zugang zur Datenbank

Finden Sie hier Einträge zum Thema "Geschichte der Odonatologie".
Geschichte_der_Odonatologie

containing this key word.

... with an index
the following indices are available:
Persons / authors
titles of publications

The indices with author, journal and year will be of most value for
you

Note in proof: The pdfs are a service not included in preparing and
calculating the costs of the database. All pdfs have been found
browsing the internet and had or have a free access. I don't have the
copyright for these pdfs with very few exceptions. All I do with them
is link them to my database as a free service. Additional note: the
pdfs are not available at the two URLs listed above.
